I completed my clinical and didactic hours at the University of California, San Diego Extended Studies in August 2024. I started Indigo Bay Wellness to help promote and raise airway awareness in my hometown of Georgetown, SC.
Breastfeeding is the beginning of creating healthy structures for the airway, which can lead to fewer issues with sleep. I learned this with my Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy course, so during my UCSD lactation course, I learned so much more about breastfeeding than just developing the oral cavity.
It is truly amazing what our bodies do to provide the natural food for our newborns. The change can be easy for some or have many challenges.
I have been able to turn this into a passion to help other mothers who may struggle with their journey. Even when it comes naturally and is an easy process, research shows that mothers with lactation consultants (especially prenatal) are very successful compared to mothers without the help of a lactation consultant.
I want everyone to feel confident that they are doing the best for their newborn (which you are regardless). There can be so many questions after laving the hospital because of it being a different environment.
Prenatal appointments are so helpful for setting up a foundation before you give birth. Then, one to two days later, I am able to come for an in-home appointment to help with the flow of transition from the hospital or home birth.
My appointments are in-home services that are about one-hour to one-and-a-half hours long. I go over your detail and specific concerns to individualize your treatment plan. We will meet for at least one follow up appointment which can be in-home or virtual.
Whether it is your first or fifth child. So many factors can play a role in your journey. My appointments are to be convenient, helpful, and relaxing.
I have joined Wildflower and TLN. You can apply your insurance to have your appointments covered at no cost to you. Please contact me below if you have any questions.
Sometimes the failure of breastfeeding or being unable to provide breast milk for your newborn can lead to mental health issues. Please do not feel alone or ashamed to reach out for any help regarding postpartum depression. I highly recommend joinphoenixhealth for any help regarding the best maternal mental health support. Dr. Emily Guarnotta started this support for mothers after her journey in becoming a mother. You are always welcome to call or text me for any type of help, you are not alone. You are amazing and doing a wonderful job!
